24. ICSU REORGANIZATION
Prof. Fischli briefly described the major changes approved
by the special General Assembly of ICSU held April 1998 in Vienna.
- The name of ICSU was changed to the International Council
for Science, but the logo and the acronym ICSU were retained.
- The objectives of ICSU were enlarged.
- The General Committee was abolished.
- The Executive Board was increased from 6 Officers and 6 Ordinary
members to 6 Officers and 8 Ordinary members.
- Each Officer was given specific responsibilities.
- A sunset clause and review procedure was established for
all ICSU bodies.
