* Organic Synthesis
As presented at 13th International Conference on Organic Synthesis
(ICOS-13) (Warsaw, Poland, 1-5 Jul 2000) Organic Synthesis continues to
develop modern ways of constructing molecules by elaborating new
synthetic methods, enhancing stereoselectivity and enantioselectivity,
and introducing new metal-mediated processes. Selected lectures are
published in Pure Appl. Chem., Vol. 72, No. 9, pp. 1577-1797 (2000);
conference editor, A. Zamojski
* Chemical Thermodynamics
The plenary lectures of the 2000 International Conference on Chemical
Thermodynamics (Halifax, Canada, 6-11 Aug 2000) demonstrate that
there are many interesting and exciting developments in this discipline.
Selected lectures are published in Pure Appl. Chem., Vol. 72, No. 10, pp.
1799-1849 (2000); conference editor, G. Marangoni
* High Temperature Materials
Major topics including gas phase chemistry, interface processes,
synthesis of advanced materials, thermodynamic and kinetic measurements,
HT devices, and process modeling, were discussed at the HTMC-X (Julich,
Germany, 10-14 Aug 2000). Selected lectures are published in Pure Appl.
Chem., Vol. 72, No. 11, pp. 2109-2186 (2000); conference editors, K.
Hilpert, F.W. Froben, and L. Singheiser
