Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry Division (III)

Number: 2001-018-1-300

Title: Space- and time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy and photochemistry

Task Group
Chairman:
Hiroshi Masuhara

Member: Paul F. Barbara, Frans De Schryver, Keiji Sasaki, Hiroyuki Yoshikawa

Completion Date: 2007 - project abandoned

Objective:
Summarizing present states and backgrounds of Space- and Time-resolved Fluorescence Spectroscopy and Photochemistry.

Description:
When the target is shifted from homogeneous gas phase and solution to inhomogeneous solid phase, space-resolution has an important role in photochemistry. Of course, photochemical processes are dynamic in nature; hence space-resolutions in photochemistry studies should always satisfy time-resolution. We summarize here backgrounds and present states of time-resolved confocal microscopy, time-resolved near-field microscopy, and time-resolved total internal reflection spectroscopy.
