Organometallic Chemistry
17–21 July 2005, Geneva, Switzerland The 13th IUPAC International Symposium on Organometallic Chemistry Directed Towards Organic Synthesis (OMCOS 13) will be held in Geneva, Switzerland, from 17–21 July 2005. The venue for the event is Expo Lac, a conference and exhibition center situated at the lakeside in downtown Geneva.
The efficient, selective preparation of organic molecules remains one of the foremost challenges in chemistry. New synthetic methodologies and the understanding of the underlying fundamental processes lead to scientific discovery, technological innovation, and sustainable and economically and ecologically sound processes of synthesis. Both main-group and transition-metal organometallics (as catalysts, reagents, and templates) have contributed substantially to this goal, and will continue to be major players in this field. The OMCOS conferences bring together industrial and academic chemists from around the world to consider the most recent developments in new metal-mediated and metal-catalyzed reactions, mechanistic insight and new applications, novel preparations and reactions of organometallic reagents, ingenious and improved methods for the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and materials using metals. This symposium provides a unique opportunity to see first-hand the most recent developments in this exciting field.
The OMCOS 13 program will consist of a single session and will feature invited lectures, short communications, and poster sessions. An exhibition of instruments, software, and literature will be integrated into the conference. Young scientists—in particular, graduate students and post-doctoral fellows—for whom greatly reduced participation fees apply, are very much encouraged to attend OMCOS 13.
Geneva, a small and vibrant international city with a long and famous history is situated at the western end of one of Europe’s largest (and most beautiful) lakes. The city is flanked by the majestic Alps and by the Jura chain of mountains, a perfect venue for OMCOS 13. Registration and accommodation reservations will open in December 2004.
