COMMISSION ON BIOPHYSICAL CHEMISTRY (I.7)
Number: 170/1/87 (same as 550/31/87)
Title: Electroanalytical Biosensors: Recommended
Definitions and Classification (revised title)
Coordinator(s): D.R.
Thévenot
Remarks: Joint project with Commission V.5 Analytical
electrochemistry
Completion Date: 1999 - project completed
Objective:
The rapid proliferation of biosensors and their diversity has led
to a lack of precision in terminology and rigor in the definition
of performance criteria. Although each biosensor can only truly be
evaluated for a particular application, it is the aim of this report
to establish a classification system for electrochemical biosensors
and standard protocols for their performance criteria.
Progress:
The draft of the final document was reviewed by the members of Commissions
I.7 and V.5, by four editors of leading journals and fourteen experts
in this field of research. Their comments have been incorporated in
the final document which have been revised during Berlin General assembly.
A final and revised manuscript of the report is been submitted to
Pure and Applied Chemistry in February 2000.
Project completed - Technical Report published
in Pure
Appl. Chem.,
