Title: Trace Elements in Polyethylene

Objective:
In this program, the Institute for Reference Materials and Measurements (IRMM), which coordinates IMEP, is focusing on the determination of trace elements (Cd, Cr, Hg, Pb, As, Cl, Br, S) in polyethylene. The material itself consists of a polyethylene matrix doped with the following metals: Cd, Cr, Hg, and Pb. The concentrations are between 1 and 100 mg.kg-1. The material, in the form of small pellets (diameter approx. 5mm), will be dispatched in sealed glass amber bottles containing 50g sample.

This project was presented at a poster session at the IUPAC Congress/GA July 2001

Project Completed
IMEP Round-13 is scheduled to run through the year 2000. A participants technical report was prepared by IRMM (EUR 19562 EN).

The final report also includes information from IMEP-10 (IUPAC Project 240/8/95)
