Abstract: The paper presents survey of principles and basic
physical parameters of liquid and hybrid gas/liquid dc-arc plasma torches
and discusses physical mechanisms that control plasma properties. Special
attention is devoted to properties of generated plasma that are decisive
for performance characteristics in plasma spraying. Characteristics
of water and water-argon torches are compared with typical characteristics
of commonly used gas torches.
